J'ai commencé à skier à l'âge de 4 ans aux Mayens de Riddes avec mes grands-parents, mon père et mes oncles. J'ai déménagé il y à 10 ans à Verbier ou j'ai transformé cette station en un terrain de jeux tout d'abord en snowboardant et par la suite, vers l'âge de 14 ans, en skiant. De 14 à 16 ans je passais la plus part de mon temps au snowpark et c'est il y a environ 2 ans que j'ai compris que ce qui me plaisait le plus était d'aller à mac 12 dans des couloirs en enchaînant des cliffs plus hautes les une que les autres.
L'année passée, Yannik Odiet un ami, m'a emmené faire des compétitions, on a commencé tranquille avec les 24h de Verbier que l'ont a gagné. J'ai tout de suite pris goût à la compétition c'est pour ça que j'ai décidé de faire la free-session de Morgins, que j'ai aussi gagnée. C'est à ce moment là, en battant des tout bon skieurs, que j'ai compris que freerider était devenu pour moi plus qu'un rêve et plus qu'une passion...

How would you describe yourself?

I started to ski when I was four years old in Mayens de Riddes with my grandparents, my father and my uncles. I moved from there when I was 10 to Verbier … or to put it another way, we transformed the resort into our playground - first of all with snowboards and thereafter, at around 14, with skiing. When I was 14 to 16 years old I spent more the share of my time to the snowpark. It was the last couple of years that I came to understand that what I enjoyed the most was to go mach 12 in couloirs by connecting the highest cliffs, one to another.
Last year Yannik Odiet, a friend, took me along to do competitions, we started quietly with the Verbier 24-Hour Ride and we won it. I immediately got the taste for competition and because of that I decided to do the Free Session of Morgins - and I also won. It is at this time there, by beating some very good skiers, that I truly understood that freerider had become for me more than just a dream and more than just a passion...

Comment t'en est arrivé là... ?

Il faut dire que j'ai eu beaucoup de chance en arrivant à être sélectionné au championnat du monde de freeride 2007.
Grâce à la free-session de Morgins, j’ai été pris dans les 50 skieurs pour les qualifs d’une des étapes du world tour 2006, le Verbier ride. Une chose en amenant une autre, j’ai fait un bon résultat aux qualifs et il s’est avéré que cette étape était considérée comme l’une des deux étapes du tour européen. Ce qui m’a fait terminer la saison en ayant la deuxième place du championnat européen. Bref, une succession de bol inouï.

How is it that you arrived there?

It should be said that luck played a partial role in e selected to the 2007 Freeride World Tour. Thanks to the Morgins free-session, I was taken in the 50 skiers for the qualifiers for one of the stages of the World Tour 2006, Verbier Ride. One thing led to another, I made a good result with the qualifiers and it turned out that that this stage was regarded as one of the two stages of the European stage of the Tour. That enabled me to finish the season in second place of the European championship. In short, a succession of amazingly fortunate events.

Et grâce à qui ?

C'est une question très vaste car je pourrais aussi bien parler des personnes qui m’ont appris à skier comme mes grands-parents ou encore mon père. A ceux qui mon appris a freerider correctement comme mon oncle Christian et aussi un ami très proche Yannik Odiet. Bien sûr sans oublier le côté technique et financier qui jusqu’à l’année passée venait de la part de mon père et qui cette année vient de la part de mes sponsors : Faction, Pelichet, Mover et Ski Service. Ce sont ces sponsors là qui m’aident à partir aux États-Unis faire les 2 étapes du World Tour 2007.

And thanks to whom?

That is a very vast question because I could as well speak about the people who taught how to me to ski, like my grandparents or my father. With those who taught me to freeride correctly, like my uncle Christian and also a very close friend Yannik Odiet. Of course, without forgetting the technical side and financing which until the last year came on behalf of my father and which this year comes on behalf of my sponsors: Faction Skis, Pelichet, Mover and Ski Service. They are the sponsors who help me to travel to the United States to make the 2 stages of the IFSA World Tour 2007.

Justement par rapport à ce World Tour 2007 qu’est ce que tu attends ?

Et bien, j’espère que tout se passera bien, sans soucis ni accident et je vais vraiment faire du mieux que je peux pour ne décevoir personne. Mais bien sûr ce que j’attends de moi-même, c’est de réussir à obtenir une place à la super finale de Tignes.

Exactly what in respect to the IFSA World Tour 2007 do you anticipate?

Ah well, I hope that all will come out well, without worries nor an accident and that I truly do the best than I can not to disappoint anybody. But of course what I anticipate from myself, it is to succeed in achieving a place at the Tignes Super Final.

Que représente pour toi le World Tour ?

C’est un moyen rapide pour propulser les jeunes comme moi au plus haut niveau et pour se faire connaître. La seule chose que je souhaite c'est que ce championnat soit considéré comme le plus grand évènement du ski freeride et que l’on en parle sur toute la planète.

What does the World Tour represent to you?

It is a rapid means to propel young people like me on the highest level and to make themselves known. The only thing that I wish it is that this championship is regarded as the greatest event of the ski freeride and that people talk about it around the world.

Pourquoi veux tu devenir un skieur pro ?

Depuis tout petit j‘ai des lattes aux pieds et de la famille qui me pousse à réaliser mes rêves. Et être payé pour réaliser ces rêves c'est encore plus génial.
Mais bon malgré mes rêves un peu exagérés, je sais que ça va être une course très difficile et que je vais devoir me donner à 200% chaque jour pour y arriver.

Why did you decide that you wanted to become a pro skier?

Since I was very little I had planks on my feet and a family that pushes me to realise my dreams. And to be paid to realise these dreams it is even more brilliant. But good in spite of my slightly exaggerated dreams, I know that it will be a very difficult race and that I will have to give me to 200% each day to make it there.

Que représente pour toi la montagne et quel est ton rapport avec ?

C’est une des choses que je respecte le plus, je n’oserais jamais dire que je suis plus puissant qu’elle ou que je la contrôle. Je me dis que si je ne lui fais pas de mal elle ne m’en fera pas non plus.

What does the mountain represent for you the mountain and which is your relationship with it?

It is one of the things that I respect the most, I would never dare to say that I am more powerful than it or that I control it. I tell myself that if I do not harm mountain, it will not harm me either.
